Herbert Kircher

has been managing director of the IBM Germany Development Lab in Boeblingen since 1993. After graduating in communication engineering at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, Herbert Kircher joined the IBM Corporation as an engineer. In the course of his IBM career, he became a manager in the fields of manufacturing, marketing and development. Besides others, he held leading positions as Marketing Director Europe, responsible for IBM marketing strategy for the European manufacturing industry and as Managing Director of the semiconductor plant in Germany.

During his several assignments to IBM Corporate Headquarters in Armonk, USA, he assumed responsibility for the assessment of new technologies and got a deep insight on research and future technology strategies. Herbert Kircher is the European representative in strategic boards like the IBM Corporate Technology Review Team and the IBM Academy Board of Governors. Furthermore, he has the responsibility for IBM’s technical community in Europe.
