Erel Margalit
Erel Margalit is the founder and managing partner of JVP (Jerusalem Venture Partners). Fifteen years ago Erel set the tone by creating a new model that combined a hands-on manage ment approach with international market crea tion stra te gies. Under Erel’s leadership JVP helped build nume r ous technology companies which have become global enter prises. Erel anticipated the growing impact of media technologies and in creased the firm’s investments in that area du ring the past few years. In addition to helping to orchestrate the 4.82 billion Dollar sale of Chromatis to Lucent Technologies in 2000, Erel success fully led fifteen exits.
Currently, Erel focuses on media technologies, combining projects in the fields of animation and gaming that bring together engineers and artists into a new mode of thinking. He also invests in more traditional industries such as communications and networking, storage and enterprise software. Erel actively partici pates on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Qliktech, Sepaton, Double Fusion, Siano, PopTok, Cyoptics, Cyber-Ark and Animation Lab.
In 2002, Erel founded JVP Community, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a better Jerusalem through The Lab, a center of performing arts aimed at encouraging creative activity in Jerusalem and The Community Empowerment Program, a holis tic approach to narrowing educational and social gaps, with more than 2,500 children from 15 schools in Jerusalem participating.
