Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel
Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel, born in 1954, is President and CEO of the Hasso-Plattner-Institute for IT-Systems Engineering (HPI) and a full professor (C4) for computer science at the University of Potsdam.
His research field is Internet and Web Technologies and Systems (www.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/meinel). Christoph also teaches at the HPI D-School, the TU Beijing (China) and at the Luxembourg Institute of Advanced Studies and is program director of the HPI-Stanford Design Thinking Research Program.
Christoph is author or co-author of 8 books and has published more than 350 papers in eminent scientific journals and conference proceedings. His high-security solution Lock-Keeper is internationally patented and licensed by Siemens AG. Christoph’s tele- TASK system provides an innovative mobile system for recording and Internet broadcasting of lectures used in many universities around the world.
Christoph is chairman of the German IPv6 Council. Together with Hasso Plattner he hosted the first “National IT-Summit” of German Federal Chancellor Merkel. He was founder and CEO of the “Trier Institute for Telematics”. Since 2007 he chairs the advisory board of UTD Meraka SAP in South Africa. Christoph is chief editor of “ECCC – Electronic Colloquium on Computational Complexity” (www.eccc.hpi-web.de), the “IT-Gipfelblog” (www. it-gipfelblog.de), and the “tele-TASK”-archive (www.tele-task.de). He has served on numerous international scientific boards and organised various international conferences.
