Shai Weiss
Shai Weiss is a Partner of Virgin Green Fund and a member of its Investment Committee. Prior to founding VGF with his partners Anup Jacob and Evan Lovell, Shai was with ntl:Telewest (now known as Virgin Media), the UK’s and Europe’s largest cable operator where he was part of the turn-around of ntl with the stock increasing fivefold in 2003. Shai was also behind the merger of Virgin Mobile UK and ntl:Telewest and the re-brand to Virgin Media.
At ntl Shai was Managing Director of Consumer Products, re- sponsible for the development and delivery of internet, telephone and TV for the consumer and also the Integration Director for the merger between ntl and Telewest. Shai’s other positions with ntl include Director of Operations for the ntl Group where he was responsible for major operations and business development projects.
Prior to ntl, Shai established the European office of Jerusalem Venture Partners and was a member of Morgan Stanley’s hi-tech mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance teams. Shai serves on the Board of several portfolio companies, including Odersun, a thin film solar company based in Berlin; Metrolight, an energy efficient lighting solutions company based in Ten- nes see; Greenroad, a driver safety and fuel efficiency company based in California and Gevo, a next generation bio-fuels company based in Colorado; Virgin Unite, the not-for-profit foundation of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group. Shai has an MBA from Columbia University in New York.
