Dr. Gesche Joost

studied design at the University of Applied Science, Cologne, and completed a PhD in rhetoric at the University of Tübingen. Until 2001 she worked as an interface designer in Cologne, Vienna and Tokyo. Between 2003 and 2004 she was a visiting lecturer for design theory and media rhetoric at the KISD (Cologne International School of Design). She is a board member of the DGTF (German Society for Design Theory and Research) and a jury member for the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).

Since 2005 she is a senior design research scientist at the Deutsche Telekom Laboratories in Berlin, working on usability and interface design. In 2006 she received the distinction of being named one of the "100 minds of tomorrow” by the initiative "Germany - land of ideas”.
