Thomas R. Baruch managed the development of alternative technologies at Exxon Corp. from 1970 to 1982. He formed CMEA Ventures in 1989 after having served as CEO of Microwave Technology, Inc. that he founded in 1983. He was one of the original investors in Aclara Biosciences which merged with Monogram Biosciences, Flextronics, Netro, Silicon Spice acquired by Broadcom, and Symyx Technologies. He serves on the boards of Entropic Communications, Foveon, NewPath Ventures, Luminus and Solyndra.
He currently heads up the firm’s energy and materials investments to include fuel cells, solar power generation, biofuels, and rechargeable batteries. He is Chairman of the Board of energy and materials companies which he helped to found, including: Cnano, Codexis, Inc., Intermolecular, Superprotonic and Wildcat Discovery Technologies.
He holds an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; a Juris Doctor degree from Capital University; and is a registered patent attorney in the USA.
